This position is in the Last Mile Section
Under the general direction of the Program and Project Supervisor, the incumbent will apply technical knowledge of communications engineering to inform the implementation, oversight, and monitoring of last mile broadband projects. The incumbent will use their expertise to determine compliance with standards and regulations, and review replacement, modification, or addition of facilities for adequacy of service in order to meet the goals of the Communication Division's infrastructure programs. The incumbent will also conduct complex analyses to support recommendations regarding the program policies, guidelines, and operational changes as needed, and will be responsible for monitoring project status. The incumbent may lead or direct work regarding review, research, analysis, and preparation of presentations, reports, resolutions, data requests, legislative bill analyses, letters, and other written and/or oral work products regarding the last mile Federal Funding Program.
The incumbent will develop, implement, and deploy policies and procedures to conduct on-site visits of telecommunications facilities in eligible areas for Federal Funding Last Mile grants. The incumbent will conduct on-site visits of telecommunications facilities in potential and actual grant areas and reports status of the projects. The incumbent will evaluate the technology, engineering design, installations and feasibility of proposed broadband infrastructure for the purposes of meeting the goals of the Federal Funding Last Mile Program and applicability of relevant rules, business practices, and telecommunications standards. The incumbent will provide in person site visits and discussion with last mile potential applicants about broadband technologies.
