Under the general direction of the Program Manager of Public Advocates Office’s Safety Branch, the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS) of the Safety Analysis Section supervises the staff comprised of utilities engineers and regulatory analysts who conduct investigations, develop analyses, make appropriate recommendations in CPUC formal safety proceedings and other forums.
Public Advocates Office’s Safety Branch is responsible for representing ratepayer interests on safety-related issues across all industries, including general rate cases (risk assessment mitigation phase), wildfires, emergency response protocols, physical and cybersecurity, service restoration, and emergency preparedness and response. The Safety Analysis Section has primary responsibility for safety issues related to natural gas and hydrogen, and is responsible for providing GIS and spatial analysis support for the whole of the branch.
