The Transportation Enforcement Branch investigates possible violations of the Public Utilities Code, Commission regulations, and other California statutes involving passenger transportation carriers, which include transportation network companies, limousines, buses and ferries. The Transportation Enforcement Branch investigates, researches, identifies, and analyzes key enforcement issues, issue citations, testifies in formal proceedings and may make appropriate recommendations as to settlements and penalty determinations.
Under the general direction of a Program and Project Supervisor (PPS), the PURA III conducts moderately complex economic, policy, and technical analyses and research on passenger transportation matters. The PURA III independently prepares or contributes to technical and investigative reports, audits, testimony, legislative analysis, and procedures. Advises TEB management regarding for-hire transportation enforcement and consumer protection issues that involve transportation network companies, bus and limousine service, and electric and driverless vehicles.
