The current vacancy position serves as a representative of the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for an assigned county-wide neighbor island district; conducts field visits with utility/transportation companies; responds to customer complaints, conducts fact finding, and attempts to resolve problems locally, or recommends disposition to the PUC; prepares and submits reports; serves as liaison with State, municipal, and other agencies and the public; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Work involves monitoring, investigating, and reporting on utility and transportation companies for compliance with PUC laws, rules and regulations; responding to consumer complaints and attempting to bring involved parties to a mutual resolution; providing information and serving as liaison with local agencies and the public with regard to PUC rules, laws and regulations and requirements.

The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Basic Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
General Experience: Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience which demonstrated a high degree of analytical skill involving the ability to collect, analyze and evaluate facts; identify problems and alternative solutions and their advantages and disadvantages and develop logical recommendations for a course of action; and the ability to read, comprehend and interpret complex material such as State statutes and/or Federal regulations and draft comprehensive reports of findings and conclusions. The experience must also have involved narrative report writing and demonstrated the ability to deal effectively with others.
In addition, either concurrently or separately, at least ONE (1) year of responsible professional work experience which involved significant public contact and demonstrated the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.
