About this Job

The Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC) is a constitutionally established regulatory agency dedicated to serving the public interest by assuring safe, reliable, and reasonably priced services are provided by the public utilities and common carriers subject to its jurisdiction.

We’re looking for a PSC Enforcement Agent 1 to serve as the first point of contact for the Transportation Division, creating a welcoming environment for visitors and providing administrative support that keeps our division running smoothly. In addition, provide clerical enforcement of common carriers of transporting household goods, waste, passengers, and non-consensual towing companies.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience in the application and/or enforcement of State rules regulating motor carriers or public utilities or in law enforcement; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor’s degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Possession of a current Louisiana driver's license.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:

As a PSC Enforcement Agent 1, you will:

  • Answers the multi-line phone for the Transportation Division to assist the general public and those common carriers seeking to engage in intrastate for-hire transportation
  • Provide general administrative support for the Transportation Division
  • Maintain a database of motor carriers’ contact and business information as well as motor carriers’ registrations, annual filings, and fees paid as required by LPSC rules and regulations
  • Prepare, issue, and serve citations resulting from LPSC investigations, consumer complaints, and/or non-compliance of filings at the direction of the Transportation Administrator
  • As part of citations testify in transportation hearings in support of allegations of non-compliance issues against common carriers

Position-Specific Details:

Appointment Type: Probational and Promotional

Career Progression: This position participates in a Career Progression Group (CPG) and may be filled as a PSC Enforcement Agent 1, 2, or 3. The level at which the vacancy is filled will be determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected. This position provides the opportunity to advance within the job series.

Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday-Friday.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
