The Missouri Public Service Commission regulates investor-owned electric, natural gas, steam, water and sewer utilities in Missouri. We ensure that Missourians receive safe and reliable utility services at just, reasonable and affordable rates. The Procurement Analysis Department reviews the natural gas purchasing practices of all the Local Gas Distribution Companies (LDCs) in Missouri. An annual audit is performed for all LDCs to determine prudence and compliance with the Company’s Actual Cost Adjustment (ACA) tariffs. The department also participates in evaluating gas cost incentive programs and reviews of LDC economic dispatch/reliability modeling efforts.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform audits and examinations of investor owned utility companies operating within the State of Missouri.
  • Present oral and written testimony in formal rate cases before the Commission.
  • Perform an annual audit for all Local Gas Distribution Companies (LDCs) in Missouri to determine prudence and compliance with the Company’s Actual Cost Adjustment tariffs.
  • Evaluate gas cost incentive programs and reviews of LDC economic dispatch/reliability modeling efforts.
  • Position may require occasional in and out of state travel.

All you need for success:

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in accounting, finance, economics, business or public administration or a closely related field and;
  • Entry level – 0-2 years of professional auditing experience (May graduates are welcome to apply); Senior level – 3 or more years of professional auditing experience; Lead Senior level – 4 or more years of professional auditing experience including 3 or more years in a regulatory environment that provides a broad view of regulation, utility operations, cost evaluation, or management analysis
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles and audit standards required
  • Must possess good communication, interpersonal skills, and writing skills
  • Personal computer experience required, with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access software applications preferred
