Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Four (4) years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or economics performing analysis, exercising judgment, and applied knowledge in auditing, corporate accounting or utility regulation.
*Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or a closely related field may substitute for 18 months of experience.
*Bachelor’s degree in the above areas may substitute for one year of experience.
Applicants who meet the above education/experience requirement will be further evaluated on the following:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and basic economic, statistical, and financial principles.
- Strong written and oral communications skills sufficient to explain complex accounting and regulatory concepts and issues clearly and concisely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Business or a closely related field.
- Six (6) years of relevant work experience in accounting, finance or economics performing analysis, exercising judgment, and applied knowledge in auditing, corporate accounting or utility regulation.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory policies and procedures in Minnesota and/or other state and federal jurisdictions.
- In depth understanding of the electric, natural gas, telecommunication and/or water industries.
- Ability to interpret statues, Commission rules and regulations.
- Ability to explain complex accounting and regulatory concepts clearly and concisely.
- Experience writing formal reports for external distribution.
- Experience managing and conducting research and investigations and performing complex analyses related to regulatory accounting, financial evaluations and other related financial issues.
- Experience leading teams and reviewing the work of colleagues to prepare, organize and disseminate information.
- Accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA)
- Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
